about

It was April 2005. I was 24 years old. I had a week off of school for spring break while all my family, friends and bandmates (Marc & Danielle) were working. I had a some songs I had written and wanted to record so I spent the whole week recording them on the same BOSS-BR-1180 digital 8-track that we still use to this day. The recording and mixing process was very new to me at this stage. So this was really my first experiment in writing, recording and mixing songs completely by myself. I learned a lot. "Lemonade Stand", "Burn the Flag", "Falling Down", "Five to Nine" and "Brightside" were all written in the weeks/months before recording. "Thief", "Lantern", "See You Next Time" and "Stars" were written during the same week they were recorded. This album is very unpolished but has a certain charm. Many of the songs mean more to me now than they did back then. It's almost as if my 24 year old self captured them and put them in this time capsule for my 42 year old self to only now, fully understand. I like some of these songs more than others, but they all have a special place in my heart. "Five to Nine" even went on to be featured on the soundtrack for John Redpath's "The Rock", a documentary about bouldering in Newfoundland. So here it is...a recently rediscovered and remixed version of Eulogy for Music...out there for anyone who cares to listen it...
